Hockey Players Help Out
Wednesday, Dec 30, 2009
In the spirit of the season, the Allen's Transport Bantam AAA Oil Kings gave from their hearts to support the Leduc Food Bank and Santa's Helpers. Great Work Team!
From the Leduc Rep:

As a kind of thanks to the Alberta Chrysler Dealers Association for their ongoing sponsorship, the Leduc Allen's Transport Bantam AAA Oil Kings collected food and toys to be donated to those in the community who need assistance throughout the Christmas season. Players filled a Dodge Grand Caravan chock-a-block full of toys and food for the Leduc and District Food Bank and Santa's Helpers, then posed for a photo at Leduc Chrysler on Dec. 19.

The Allen's Transport Bantam AAA Oil Kings are developing a reputation for being a difficult team to beat — and couldn't be happier about it.
The team has been undefeated in their last five games and are currently sitting in first place in their division. Head coach Rick Gregory said a hard-fought game against Sherwood Park Flyers on Nov. 28 that ended in a 2-2 tie has really galvanized the team's confidence heading into the home stretch of the regular season.
"Sherwood Park has only lost one game this year, so we knew it was going to be a real tough game," Gregory said.
The boys jumped out to an early 2-0 lead and held onto it until the third period, killing off a couple of penalties in the process. Sherwood Park bounced back with two late-game goals, but Gregory said it was a good feeling to know they almost snuck a victory by one of the strongest teams in the division.
"It was encouraging to know we can hang with the top teams because we are a top team," he said. "I think it was evident to whole team … that we can play with anybody."
The Oil Kings also defeated Spruce Grove PAC Saints, another hot team, on home ice Nov. 26. Gregory said it was a challenge to keep the team from getting complacent, since they've already beaten Spruce Grove four times this year, but said a solid effort from forwards Douglas Morris and Robert Cain secured the win for the Oil Kings, while strong goaltending held Spruce Grove to only one point.
